'The Next' with Gloria Estefan premieres tonight!
Gloria Estefan's singing competition, The Next, is officially premiering at 9 pm tonight on the CW! The show has garned a lot of buzz in the past few months and now finally, the world will get to see Estefan and her fellow co-stars, Joe Jonas, Nelly, and John Rich serve as mentors for superstar hopefuls.
I am personally always happy when a Latina star joins a major TV show, but I'm especially excited to watch Estefan, who is such an icon for the Hispanic community and the entire music industry! With her decades-long career, I can only imagine the invaluable advice and experience she'll be able to pass on to her contestants.

And the whole process will be especially interesting to watch given the unique concept of the competition. The judges don't just act as mentors for a couple of hours while the show is taping-- they travel to six cities over the course of the season and spend an entire 72 hours working with an up-and coming musician and experiencing their daily lives. "We get to take off that celebrity or musician hat." Estefan told TV Guide, "I have cut the grass on a riding mower, I learned how to make pizza, I hauled a bunch of junk into the back of a van."

Sounds like quite the experience! Still, I'm sure it's nothing Estefan can't handle, especially considering this is far from her first time on the small screen. Below, check out 5 more of Estefan's greatest TV moments:

Standing Ovation American Music Awards
In 1990, Estefan fractured her spine when her tour bus was involved. In January 1991, she returned to the public eye to perform her song, "Coming Out of the Dark," for the first time on the American Music Awards, receiving a standing ovation as she took the stage.
