Is there a rivalry between reality show Latinas, Demi Lovato and Mariah Carey?

It looks like someone is creating a rivalry between X-Factor judges Demi Lovato and Britney Spears, and American Idol's newest addition, Mariah Carey--but it's not the reality show ladies themselves! Controversial X-Factor producer, Simon Cowell, is the one stirring up trouble by hinting that the women on his show make for better judges than Carey.

"I think she's going to find it difficult to say no," Cowell told the AP of Carey's casting. "You've got to say no to people. And she's sweet." Sigh--only the perpetually frowning Simon would ever call sweetness a bad thing.

And his opinions didn't stop there. Cowell made it clear that he didn't think Lovato and Spears would have the same problem. Why?  "They are very happy, these two, in giving people a no," he said. "That's why we hired them." Wow, that's a back-handed compliment if I ever heard one! Cowell also went on to say that Lovato "is a brat but there's something really likable about her as well."

Hmm…it seems to me like Cowell is a little nervous now that Idol has bagged a huge icon as their newest judge. Why else would he be unnecessarily pinning these ladies against each other? They're all talented artists who bring different qualities to each show! In fact, I would say that of all of them, the three ladies are more qualified than Cowell to judge talent seeing as they've actually experienced worldwide success with their music.

Maybe it's time for female artists to just leave the men behind and get their own show. A combination of Lovato's sassiness, Carey's vocal ability, AND Spears' performance background? Sounds like a hit to me!
