10-year-old mariachi singer steals the show on "America's Got Talent" (VIDEOS)
Last night's America Got Talent auditions got Latinized when 10-year-old Sebastian de la Cruz took the stage, with a full mariachi band and uniform. The young boy, locally known as "El Charro de Oro," took the entire audience and all three judges by surprise with his astounding voice and larger-than-life stage presence.
From his first note, which he belted out like a pro, de la Cruz had the crowd captivated. His performance earned a standing ovation from judges Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne while the rest of the audience began chanting his name. Meanwhile, shots of his mom, sitting in the audience, showed her tearing up and proudly exclaiming, "That's my baby!"
The love and support from his family is apparently what got him into singing in the first place. "My whole family, they love music, I just love my family and they give me the music," de la Cruz explained to the judges with a maturity beyond his years.
"I did not expect that big voice out of that little body you've got," said Osbourne. Mandel agreed, stating, "You are personality plus. You took the roof off the place!" Howard Stern teasingly asked him about having a girlfriend to which de la Cruz nonchalantly replied that they had to break up so he could get better at his music (say it with me now: aww!). All three unanimously voted to send him to the next rounds in Vegas.

Wow! I think de la Cruz might be my favorite of the season so far, although Latino father-daughter duo , the Narvaez', aren't too far behind. But de la Cruz wasn't the only Latino to shine on last night's episode. Sandstory artist Joe Castillo literally lit up the stage when he used only a projector, light, and sand to tell a touching, patriotic story. The judges were impressed with his unique talent and all three chose to send him to Vegas as well.
