Will BET Awards 'Sportsman of the Year' go to a Latino?

This year's BET Awards are shaping up to be an exciting show! Nominations were announced earlier today and the most significant award, to me, is the race for Sportsman of the Year. This year not one but TWO hot Latino men are up for the award: Carmelo Anthony and Victor Cruz.

Both are the product of African-American and Puerto Rican parents. I couldn't be more excited about this year's race because, besides having a serious crush on Victor Cruz, I think it'll be well-deserved if one of these men won the top honor.

The other nominees for this year's BET Awards include LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant. Meanwhile, sisters Serena and Venus Williams will be battling it out for "Sportswoman of the Year", along with Skylar Diggins, Candace Parker and Brittney Griner.

Although they're all great and well-deserving athletes, I am definitely crossing my fingers that Victor or Carmelo will win. I admit, maybe I'm a bit biased since both are hot Latino sports dads and both play for New York-based teams (Carmelo's a basketball star for the New York Knicks while Victor is my absolute favorite player for NFL Super Bowl champs New York Giants), but I guess I just am.

You can't tell me both of them haven't proven themselves on the field/court this year. And while I'm a bit more partial to Victor Cruz (seriously, touchdown salsa, fashion designer, great dad?! How can I not love him?), it'll be exciting to see either of these Latino sports starts win BET's "Sportsman of the Year" Award next month.
