It's finale season and tonight, it's American Idol's turn to crown their winner. During Tuesday night's performances, the two remaining contestants, Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips, gave it their all in a last attempt to prove to the world why they should be the last one standing. Despite their efforts, the night had its ups and downs and 16-year-old Sanchez ended up faltering in her very last performance. So will she go home tonight?

Both contestants sang three songs on last night's show--one picked by Executive Producer Simon Fuller, one of their own choice, and the first single they'd release if they win the title. Sanchez started with a powerhouse pick, Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" and though many considered it too safe of a song, the judges were blown away. When asked which of the two contestants stood out the most, both Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson said they thought Sanchez took the first round, beating out Phillips' rendition of "Stand by Me."

However, things weren't as clear in the next round. For her second performance, Sanchez chose to sing another ballad, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's "The Prayer." While her rendition was pretty, it wasn't as mind-blowing as some of her other performances and this time, the judges were split between the two contestants. Steven Tyler sided with Sanchez (he does love her so!) while Lopez went with Phillips, who sang Billy Joel's "Movin' Out." Jackson remained neutral saying it was a draw between the two.

The downfall for Sanchez really came during her final performance of night, when she sang her potential single, "Change Nothing." The song (ANOTHER slow one) was disappointing and forgettable to say the least, lacking any of sassiness and soul that we've come to know and love from the 16-year-old. "I'll be straight up--I did not love the song," said Jackson. "You brought the song to life, but the song was just okay."

Phillips, on the other hand, flexed his artistic muscles, singing an alternative track "Home" and although I can't say I found the song particularly impressive either, the judges loved it. "Everything about that was perfect," said Jackson. Lopez and Tyler thought so as well, unanimously agreeing that Phillips won the final round.

The lackluster reviews of her last performance could mean trouble for Sanchez on tonight's results show, particularly since it was meant to be a preview of what she would be releasing on an album. However, I still think Sanchez inarguably has the stronger vocal ability and has proven her talent time and time again. I just hope America agrees with me!

I agree with you. If America goes for the stronger vocal ability and proven talent, She should WIN. I also hope that America agrees with us.
