Bee Gee Robin Gibb inspired some surprising Latino musicians (VIDEO)

The past few months have been nothing short of tragic for the music world! Just a few days after disco queen Donna Summers passed, the world had to once again say goodbye to another legend, Robin Gibb, one-third of the iconic group the Bee Gees. He died Sunday after a long battle with cancer at the age of 62.

"The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery," said the released statement. "The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

Gibb was an inspiration to some surprising Latino musicians of all kinds. For his debut album, boxer Oscar de La Hoya released a cover of the Bee Gee's classic "Run to Me" in both English and Spanish. Legendary Singer Jose Feliciano also took on one of the group's ballads, recording his own rendition of "First of May."

Other Latin stars showed their appreciation for the renowned artists on Twitter. Bruno Mars and The Voice's Vicci Martinez tweeted their condolences, with Mars (whose music clearly shows the Bee Gees influence) tweeting a simple "R.I.P Robin Gibb" and Martinez getting more personal: "…I'm thankful for my dad LOVING the Bee Gees. I'm thankful for the Bee Gees. RIP Robin Gibb."

Actors of all ages also paid their respects to Gibb. Roselyn Sanchez took to Twitter to say, "Thank you for all the dance memories to your music! RIP Robin Gibb." Nickelodeon tween star Victoria Justice wrote "so sad 2 hear Robin Gibb (1 of the BeeGees) has passed. 'How Deep Is Your Love' will always b 1 of my favorite songs." Actor and host, Mario Lopez also tweeted his condolences, writing "R.I.P Robin Gibb. Big Bee Gees fan! Wrote so many great songs too…Our Disco stars are off to perform in the big club upstairs! #NightFever."

I myself also grew up with a dad who loves the Bee Gees so I was incredibly sad to hear about Gibb's death. Still, it's touching to see the way his work will live on through the singers and artists he has inspired.
