I've got a confession to make:  I loved Chris Christie's reaction after Jimmy Kimmel's jokes about the New Jersey governor's weight at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. When you have [Sofia Vergara] next to you to console you, let me tell you, you don't care what the heck Jimmy Kimmel is saying about you," declared Christie when asked by how he felt about Kimmel's jokes, according to the  Daily News.

Though I doubt Christie's wife Mary Pat was happy about the comment, I was impressed that the governor defended himself with unexpected words. Those words allude to Sofia Vergara's beauty (which was a smart way to broach the question). Plus, Christie also said Jimmy Kimmel's jokes don't compare to what people say on Twitter about him.

It looks like Christie used a slick technique to joke his way out of a situation. Unfortunately, fat jokes are something he's come to expect. Christie says, "I figured I was in the zone of danger. When you're overweight, fair or unfair, there's going to be those who make really awful comments about you and there are going to be people who make jokes about it. That's the way it goes."

Christie also added that Kimmel was setting himself up for criticism and backlash, after he started making jokes about President Barack Obama's weight.

After the governor's response, the truth is Chris Christie, shows us—especially other celebrities who respond in with nasty commentary and in extreme ways-- a nice lesson on how to gracefully defend yourself against criticism.

Sure it isn't cool for someone to make fun of you, but this politician kept it clean and didn't resort to angry comments. By turning to humor, Chris Christie prevented himself from getting coaxed into a nasty game of publicly fighting with a critic.

So, from now on let's turn to humor, just like Chris Christie. I've heard that the one who gets the last laugh wins. And whatever you say about him, the reality is that most would have wanted to be in his seat right next to the gorgeous Sofia Vergara.

What do you think about Chris Christie's reaction?
