Cuban rapper Pitbull was honored at last week's 19th annual BMI Latin Awards in Las Vegas, receiving the BMI President's Award for his influence over the entertainment industry. With this latest honor, he's joining the ranks of legends like Emilio and Gloria Estefan—and becoming a legend himself only eight years since he first appeared on Lil Jon's album Kings of Crunk in 2002 before releasing his debut album, M.I.A.M.I. in 2004. In no time at all, Pitbull has risen to the top of the music industry and this latest honor proves he's here to stay. But how did this 31-year-old versatile songwriter, producer and entertainer climb so high in just a short time?

His collaborations don't hurt. Working with with T-Pain, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown and Marc Anthony. Working with Jennifer Lopez on her single "On the Floor" brought massive mainstream attention which meant a massively good year. He released his second English album, Planet Pit, with hits like "Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)", "Give Me Everything", "International Love" and "Rain Over Me" and literally became the king of all media in 2011.

And all of this in such a short time that he's making my head spin!

After coming off of a fantastic Halftime Show performance during the NBA All-Star game, the artist just can't quit. He's got another new album, Global Warming, due out this summer and is sure to keep conquering the music industry—proving that he's truly a legend already.

His talent for writing songs that won't let my hips stop moving aside, Pitbull's also quite the stylish charmer. And as if looking impossibly sexy in a suit and his trademark aviator sunglasses wasn't enough, he's also inspiring a new generation of Latin singers as the co-founder of Bad Boy Latino and partnering with Voto Latino to make sure that we're well represented at the polls this election year. What can I say? The man can sing, dance, look good and even help others. Well, that's pretty much all I want in a legend.

What is your favorite Pitbull song? Are you happy that he was honored at the awards ceremony?
