Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's Q'Viva! premieres on Fox
Q'Viva! The Chosen, the highly anticipated show from Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony will be making its debut on Fox on Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Latin-American based series premiered on Univision, but will televise an English-language version on the major broadcast network. The show features the American Idol judge, her ex-husband and famed Latino singer Anthony, and concert director Jamie King, who recently presided over the interesting Superbowl half-time show by Madonna.
In the series, the three travel to 20 different countries to find and spotlight the best Latin artists, from singers and musicians to dancers and other performers. The contestants are then brought to the United States to compete. Fox will air the show in two-hour episodes until the finale on April 7th.

"This is about creating a live visual experience about Latin culture, rhythm and dance," Lopez said of the project. "I believe that people will be so enlightened, so enriched by this experience."
Lopez, Anthony, and King speak mostly English on the show, but in the instances that they Spanish or Portuguese, English subtitles will be provided.

The idea of a talent competition between performers is hardly original (see America's Got Talent, The Voice, X-Factor and Lopez's other show, American Idol). BUT, I have to admit there is something interesting about the fact that the show is devoted solely to Latino artists. At least the audience will be treated to styles of music and dances that aren't typically featured on similar shows. After all, who doesn't like salsa?
