Two Latinos make the top 24 on American Idol!
Good news for all you American Idol fans: Two Latinos have made it into the top 24 contestants!
Judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson announced the semi-finalists on last night's episode. 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez and 19-year-old Jeremy Rosado both made it to the next round of the singing competition.
"I went crazy," said Rosado of his reaction to the news. "The long walk to the final judgment was really rough, just thinking about everyone who had been cut already and who was left and how many spots were left."
Rosado was especially ecstatic because he found out from Lopez herself. "I don't know if they did that on purpose because I love her," he laughed. "She told me it was unanimous."
San Diego resident Sanchez is also thrilled with the final decision. "It just feels like a dream, like I can wake up at any moment," she said. "I wasn't that confident because there were so many good singers here and you never know what's going to happen."
In true Latina style, Sanchez also credited her supportive family as a factor of her success. "They drove all the way up for me just to be supportive whether I made it or not," she said. "They mean a lot and they always have energy. They're always crazy so they're all excited for me!"
