Watch a samba-style Beatles classic at Carnaval (VIDEO)

I've never been to Brazil's famous celebration of Carnaval but I've been wanting to go for years. Whenever a Brazilian friend of mine visits the US, I always ask him to tell me stories of the beautiful things he's seen and heard at the celebrations in major cities like Rio de Janeiro and São Paolo. He's always telling me about the amazing music and wonderful dancing that goes on.

But one thing I never expected him to tell me about was the Beatles-style street celebration in Rio. Throughout the parades, the parties break up into different sections and apparently there is a band that plays only Beatles songs in their unique samba-style.

I couldn't believe it when I first heard it. Brazilian samba is so different from the Beatle's British pop style. How could they ever combine the two? But Bloco Sargento Pimenta has figured out a way to make it work.

Their lovely combinations of samba with Beatles classics like "Come Together," "Yellow Submarine," "Hey Jude" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" (below) make me want to go to Carnaval even more.
