Grammy Preview: What to expect after Whitney Houston's death
I don’t know about you but I’m a sucker for awards season. I will watch every show even when I pretty much know who’s going to win what. I just can’t help it…the fashion, the awards, and the interviews all look so fun to me. And the Grammy Awards show is one of my all-time favorites, which is why I’m very excited about tonight’s event, even though I'm still in shock that there will be one less star in the audience, one less star in the world. Whitney Houston will be missed, and obviously her passing will be a part of the show.
Here some other things you can look forward to at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, aside from tributes tonight's winners are sure to give to the fallen star.
- Amazing performances--This year’s lineup of performers is absolutely incredible. There is literally an artist from almost every genre, which is ideal if your music preferences are all over the map, like mine. From Katy Perry to Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney to Puerto Rican Bruno Mars, every kind of music fan will be able to watch an artist they like perform. I personally can’t wait to see Adele, who is making her comeback after undergoing vocal cord surgery last fall.
- Jennifer Hudson performing a tribute to Whitney Houston--According to People, Hudson has been chosen by Grammy Executive Producer Ken Erhlich to pay respects to the superstar vocalist.
- Glamorous (and wacky) fashion--The Grammy’s have produced some of the world’s most memorable fashion moments in Hollywood history. Remember that infamous Versace dress J.Lo wore in 2000? Or Nikki Minaj’s head-to-toe animal print last year? You have to watch to see who’s going to be this year’s standout. We are sure this year won't see any wardrobe malfunctions, as stars will be looking to dress in respect for Houston.
- BIG winners- Adele is pretty much set to sweep her nominations, even in the major categories. Still, there could be a surprise upset like last year, when rockers Arcade Fire took home Album of the Year. Also, look out for possible wins by Kanye West, Taylor Swift and Bon Iver.
Ah, so much to look forward to, how can you not enjoy it? Plus, I think it will be a relief for us all to mourn such a huge musical loss.
Will you be watching the Grammy’s this Sunday?
