The best liquid lipsticks that won't dry out your lips

A year ago, you wouldn't have caught me dead wearing liquid lipstick. I didn't want to have anything to do with them. I was all about my traditional bullets and my obsession with pencil and crayon lip stains like the Bobbi Brown Art Stick or Tarte's Lippie Lingerie Matte Tints only grew. Liquid lipsticks despite the long-lasting power, almost always left my lips dry, chapped, and sometimes even peeled. It wasn't cute. It wasn't for me. But that all changed this year.

The great thing about beauty products is that they're constantly evolving. Brands finally picked up on liquid lipstick's annoying drying factor and practically revamped with new selections that make our lips feel just as soft as they look nice.

This year in particular, there are some really great formulations that come in a variety of colors from natural-looking nudes to vibrant bold colors that make anyone look flawless. Now I can't get enough of this liquid stuff. Go figure!

Here's a look at a few liquid lipsticks you need to own and, of course, rock this season!

There’s a reason why this liquid lipstick has become all the rave. 1

The long-lasting, matte formula actually helps moisturize lips. It’s like a liquid lipstick and gloss combined in one. The color looks stunning too. If you have olive skin or darker, try the brown-based nude shade "Trendsetter." Huda Beauty Liquid Matte ($20).

This liquid lipstick dries literally in seconds. 2

They call in quick dry for a reason. It dries before you even get a chance to press your lips but doesn’t actually dry out your lips. I’m obsessed. Their deep mauve “Front Row” shade looks so great against a tan or brown complexion. Tarte Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint ($20).

It comes not in one, not two, but three different finishes. 3

Everything about this liquid lip stain is genius. From the way it provides intense long-wear color that stays put for hours, to the three distinct finishes that consist of matte, metal, and satin. The “Shock Matte” color is gorg! Dior Rouge Dior Liquid ($35).

This liquid lipstick is as matte as they come and still doesn’t dry your lips out. 4

I don’t know how they managed to create a liquid formula this matte, this long-lasting that doesn’t dry out lips. But they did and it’s mind-blowing to me. Did I mention it comes 20 shades? The burgundy-looking "Starwoman" shade is perfect for fall. NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26).

I can never get enough of this waterproof formula. 5

It doesn’t even come off after eating, drinking or kissing. Trust me, I’ve tried it. Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick ($18).

This matte lipstick is actually creamy. 6

As in it leaves lips matte but soft and hydrated all day. Score! Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick ($22).

Who says a good liquid lipstick has to cost you a lot. 7

This one costs less than $10, looks amazing, and never leaves lips dry or cakey. Affordable beauty is very much possible. Try the "Honeymoon" shade. It’s a brown, 90s-inspired color that’s so hot this season. NYX Lip Lingerie ($7).

This liquid lipstick comes in a combination of bold matte colors and metallic mattes. 8

This "Oxblood" color is everything. Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick ($24).

This creamy formula glides on as smoothly as lip gloss and then dries matte in seconds. 9

It stays on for hours and comes in 43 bold and beautiful shades. What's there not to love? Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20).
