Lately, I've been noticing more and more beauty brands coming out with products that feature plantains as one of their main ingredient. Like most Latinas, I grew up on plátanos. At least once a week my mom would make a plate full of either maduros or fried tostones to accompany our meals. And every once in a while, we'd have a bowl of mangú (mashed plantains) with eggs. You'd be surprised by some of the mighty plátano's health benefits. Plantains are packed with fiber, beta-carotene, calcium and vitamin C. But apparently this stuff works wonders on hair and skin too. Don't believe me?
