It's funny, I didn't really start seeing a real difference in my skin and hair until I went DIY. And let me tell you girl, it took me a while to get on board. The idea of having to whip up my own beauty remedies seemed tedious and time consuming. But it really wasn't, especially considering most of them only require one to two awesome ingredients. I've treated everything from my nasty dry scalp issue, to my damaged, dull hair and even my manchas. Here are 8 DIY beauty ingredients that will give you amazing skin and hair AND save you money!

It's ridiculous how obsessed I've become with coconut oil. But this thing really does work miracles. It's helped hydrate and strengthen my heat damaged hair, leaving it silky smooth and shiny always. I wash my face with it every night and I swear it's made my complexion clearer and brighter. Plus, it makes for an amazing body moisturizer. I can't imagine my life without it!

Want a makeover remover that's not rough on your skin? Get yourself a small bottle of almond oil chica! This thing doesn't just get out waterproof mascara but it leaves your face soft and glowy too.

Avocados have been my saving grace when it comes to restoring this damaged hair. Once a month, I take a small avocado mash it in a small bowl using a fork and add about a teaspoon of coconut oil to it. Then, I apply it throughout my hair from roots to ends. I leave it on for around 15-20 minutes before rinsing out. My hair always looks awesome afterwards!

You know what they say, you have to take care of the inside to make the outside look good. So aside from maintaining a healthy, green-heavy diet, I try incorporating coconut water into my daily routine. Why? Because it's stacked with potassium, vitamin C, vitamin B and other essential nutrients that keep you healthy and energetic. I also noticed my skin looks more radiant whenever I'm drinking it consistently.

It's rich in antioxidants, which helps hydrate, rejuvenate and protect skin from harmful UV rays. It also deeply moisturizes hair and boosts shine. I love it!

Want a soft, polished body this summer? Try exfoliating with a natural scrub at least twice a week. I like to mix my brown sugar with a little bit of olive oil. It leaves my skin SO soft. It's also a great chapped-lips remedy.
