Get the right cut

My curls need to grow past my shoulders to fully form. Even so, whenever I leave my strands at one length, my hair starts looking really boxy (hello, Christmas tree hair!).  Have a few layers cut in to give your curls some shape and volume. But be careful with very short cuts or layers, which can make curly hair look poofy. Consult with your hair stylist to determine the style that would work best for your ringlets.

I only shampoo once a month and then with a non-detergent (no sodium laurel suphate) shampoo. The rest of the time I co-wash, that means to use a conditioner as if it were shampoo...wet hair, rub in conditioner, rinse it out. Then I only comb the crown section with a wide-tooth comb. I use a non-alcohol texturizer to hold the locks in place, finger-shape it and let it dry. Then I fluff it with my fingers. My hair is soft, very manageable and shiny. Shampoo is very bad for hair.
